Grade: EasyUnsurpassed scenery, an abundance of wildlife, historical sites. All from the comfort of purpose built air-conditioned 4WD vehicles, Cape York Safari is truly an Australian Outback adventure.
The tour begins driving through the lush rainforests of Cape Tribulation before travelling up the Bloomfield Track to Cooktown. Discover the wonders of Aboriginal Rock Art sites, before meeting one of Australia’s real pioneers, Irene Taylor. Following the old telegraph track to Twin Falls, encounter some of the most picturesque areas on the Cape. Venture over the Jardine River and through the Lockerbie Scrub to find only a 500 metre (1500 feet) walk to the tip, Cape York. Finally cross over to Thursday Island by ferry to board your aircraft back to Cairns.
Guides are experienced Cape York adventurers who will inform you about the Flora and Fauna of the area as well as preparing the ultimate in camping cuisine. Accommodation on tour is in our famous Freedom Camping "Family Tower" equipped with airbed for your comfort.
This trip of a lifetime is also offered as a southbound journey, or for those wishing to explore the Great Barrier Reef, a cruise can replace the air leg of the trip.
DEPARTURES:
NORTHBOUND - Depart Cairns by 4WD Safari and fly back to Cairns from Cape York.
SOUTHBOUND - Depart Cairns by air to Cape York and return to Cairns by 4WD Safari.INCLUSIONS: One-way airfare Cairns-Cape York, all meals from lunch on day 1 to lunch on day 6, all tours and cruises as stated, experienced safari leader, separate supply vehicle with 2 camp attendants/cooks, all camping equipment including sleeping bags, air beds, pillows, linen, towels (2), torches.
