7 Days - departs Cairns,
Northern Beaches & Port Douglas
Grade: Easy to Moderate
An exhilarating Sea Kayaking
expedition! Your chance to explore the only place in the world where
two World Heritage areas meet - the Wet Tropics and the Great Barrier
Reef Marine Park.
Travel north from Cairns across the Daintree River; arrive at Cape
Tribulation with afternoon instruction on paddling and safety
techniques. Days 2-7; Kayaking north and camping at many secluded
beaches along the coast. 3-4 hours paddling daily.
Every beach holds new discoveries; walk through the rainforest, swim
and snorkel over fringing coral reefs, or just relax in this pristine
environment. By kayak we visit Weary Bay, Whalebone Beach and Stoney
Island, each with their own interesting stories to tell.
The scenery around the camp sites is spectacular! With a glass of wine
over dinner and the amazing views from the beach, you’ll know why
this area is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage area. On the last
day cross Quarantine Bay and kayak along the historic Endeavour River
into Cooktown. We land at the same place where Captain Cook stopped to
make repairs during his voyage of discovery in 1770.
