4 DAYS - departs Cairns, Northern Beaches & Port Douglas Grade:

Travel via the inland road
through Palmer River and Mt. Carbine. We stop at several wetland areas
and other sights of interest. After visiting Laura we take a 4WD
access road to our bush camp “Jowalbinna”.
We spend 2 nights here, after breakfast on day 2 we hike the sandstone
escarpment country to view Aboriginal Art sites. Some dating back
40,000 years. The guide will offer interpretation of the sights and be
able to answer any questions relating to the history of the area. At
lunch relax in a cool Billabong while the Billy boils and lunch is
prepared. After breakfast on day 3 we visit one more site before
travelling into Lakefield National Park in search of crocodiles,
dingoes, kangaroos, many large and colourful birds gather near lily
shrouded waterholes, the day will be spent exploring the park. We
continue east along the Gold Rush Track and arrive early evening in
Cooktown and overnight in motel accommodation. Our final day sees us
exploring a little of Cooktown, the site of the first European
settlement by Captain Cook and a view over the town from Grassy Hill.
We then continue down the coast with stops at Black Mountain, the
Lions Den and Bloomfield Falls. The road is 4WD only and offers
excellent vistas of the ocean as it follows the coastline. After
crossing the Daintree River we visit the Rainforest in Mossman Gorge
for some light hiking and swimming before returning to Cairns at
sunset.
DEPARTURES: Every Monday
all year and every Thursday from Jul 20 to Sep 14 (inclusive) from
your hotel at 7.20am, returns at 6.00pm on day 4.
