Grade: EasyA 2 day/1 night nature safari to a private rainforest property, known as Possum Valley, on the Southern Atherton Tablelands in Tropical North Queensland.
Accommodation is in one of two hand built timber cottages, overlooking a natural billabong. Plenty of time is allowed on both days for exploring the local area between Cairns and Possum Valley.
Exploring the area may include waterfalls and freshwater lakes, swimming, a rainforest picnic lunch, botanical walks, historic mining towns, off-road 4WD tracks, typical bush pub lunch and many more nature based activities. The aim of the 2 day trip is to get away from civilisation and “commune with nature”. Your personal guide is with you the whole time and attends to all your food and beverage needs, including a traditional wood fired bush BBQ (weather permitting).
Possum Valley lives up to its name every evening with members of the local possum community gathering on the verandahs giving a truly memorable welcome! Early risers may be afforded the rare sight of Platypus feeding in the adjacent billabong, or even try a refreshing swim with them. The whole two days are a truly unforgettable Australian nature experience.
