On the far northern border of South Africa lies a beautiful area known as the Great Marico, made famous by the literary works of Herman Charles Bosman. It is here in this spectacular setting of 2 630 million year old mountains and inselbergs that the Madikwe Game Reserve and Tau Game Lodge are situated.

The malaria-free Madikwe is South Africa's fourth largest game reserve (75 000 hectares) and was the home of one of the most extensive game-reintroduction programmes in history. With the translocation of over 10 000 animals, it has once again become home to both white and rare black rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.

Tau Game Lodge offers an excellent game-viewing experience and is conveniently located for leisure and conference guests just four hours from Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Gabarone (Botswana). It is also 21/2 hours drive from the famous Sun City and Lost City.
