Millions of years ago the angry bowels of the earth forced apart rock and mountain, disgorging from its cauldron a great searing substance that hardened into megalithic forms. Over time, wind and weather stripped away the sands to reveal the ancient stone giants of Bongani and the Malelane Mountains where mysterious nomads once held their sacred ceremonies and bushmen of bygone days left their ochre marks on the rock walls.

Today the magnificence of the Malelane Mountains, with the 8000 hectares of Methetomusha Game Reserve falling away at its feet, continues to inspire travellers from around the world who are warmly welcomed to Bongani Lodge and their unforgettable adventure of this Big Five reserve in the mountains just outside Nelspruit.
